Making waves

Here I have experimented with waves, I drew influence from the research I did on waves as I think they create a interesting image. I think creating these waves style folds has paid off greatly.

Development of paper folding - Three

Influenced by my secondary research where I looked at the pattern of the rock sediment.I think that this has made an interesting piece.

Here I have done basic folds as have curved the paper, then I put a light behind the paper, which created a great effect.

Here I have practised scoring paper and cutting into paper. This will help me when i come to create my final piece, as I want the edges to be crisp.

Making shapes from the off cuts

After experimenting with paper, i found that I have a lot of off cuts, so instead of wasting the paper and throwing it away, decided i would score the paper to from some shapes. After doing this realised that they resembled the tips of possibly a flame.

Development of paper folding - Two

Here i carried on exploring paper art form the last two workshop sessions. Some of these designs are simple but interesting, whilst other required intricate cuttings. From looking at this development i can see my improvement from when I started in my first workshop.

Workshop Three

In this workshop we specifically looked at how to fold paper in a certain way, creating new ways at coming up with ideas that may be used in our final designs.

Secondary Research

Here I have researched shapes that occur in natural forms, such as the breaking of waves and the sand dunes. I have specifically chosen these shapes becausde i find them interesting. The shapes of these natural forms may influence me in creating paper artwork for Task one and two.

Workshop Two

In the second workshop we cut across the width of the paper. This included using precise measurements and cutting skills otherwise we would risk cutting too much into the paper. Once we cut into the paper we would experiment with what shapes we could produce. The first 3D shape (Top Photo) I produced I don't like that much, however the second shape (Bottom Photo), I really like the shape that is produced and how the shape of paper has formed thanks to cutting into the paper.

Development of paper folding - One

This is the work that I have produced between the first workshop and the second workshop. After researching some paper artists I became influenced to create some of my own 3D images. I also wanted to explore the form of paper folding to help my skills progress, resulting in the outcome of my final pieces being better than if I didn't try and experiment with paper.
