Final GF Smith Poster

Here is my final GF Smith poster design. I have drawn influence from Rob Ryan's work and style and have incorporated it into my final poster design. I really like the final outcome of the poster and think that the design works well. I have switched some of the letters backwards for a desired affect, I deliberately didn't want it to look computer generated and make it look hand crafted to capture what the company is about: paper. I have used the image of an envelope to create that idea of the viewer being invited to the invent. I have added delicate details such as the vines that swoops around the text, this adds a sophistication to the piece and also links into the nature theme of the birds delivering the invitation.

Final sculpture

These are the images my final sculpture design. I think that the sculpture has many interesting angles form which to look at it from and i like the final outcome of my piece. There isn't anything that I would change about my final piece and therefore that makes my final outcome a successful one. The theme of repetitive shapes has come through in my sculpture, with the top folds being repeated, the funnels being replicated several times and the folds that lead out from the sculpture being the same in width.

Typography Using paper - Research

Here is some examples of typography by using paper to produce text. These examples may help me in forming the typography for my final piece.

Gf Smith Advertising Designs

These are a few of the poster designs that GF Smith have used in the past, from this i can tell what the image of the company is like.

GF Smith - Task 2

For task two, we are creating a poster for the 100th anniversary for GF Smith, firstly I researched the company, I visited the company's website to find out what the company is all about. Here is the link:

Paper Folding Sculpture - Task 1

My sculpture was influenced by the shape of the jellyfish, this was because I think that it creates a great image to incorporate into the sculpture. I made the top of the sculpture very intricate and detailed. I also used black paper to contrast with the top of the sculpture, bringing more attention to it.

Development of paper folding - Five

To help me with my final sculpture, I decided to work on a bigger format of paper. I found that in can be easier to work with bigger pieces of paper, however I also struggled with the disadvantages of working with bigger pieces of paper. I was influenced by Richard Sweeney's work (Bottom Picture) and soon realised that the piece also resembled the Birmingham Bull Park Arena. I made many varieties of forms with the paper.
